Alas unlike last weekends stuff of legends, against the Learned Oxford, the Silkmen were unable to come from behind and beat the Barnet blokes from one of London's slopes. The buzzing Bees, a common London nickname it seems are a side in truth we had high hopes of beating, yet despite the absence of 6-7 first teamers and a second half swashbuckling swansong in the smoke, we Silmen came away with any fruit from their looms.

But to the match fellow football fans to the match.
Barnet, themselves beset by injury, came out of the blocks like a 100 metre runner on anabolic steroids, whilst the Silky Lion slept. On 9 Nsiala, beside Brown in the centre, naively allowed Byrne to quite beautifully flick George Francombe's throughball over him; before brilliantly firing into Jose Veiga's top left-hand corner.
The Bees continued to dominate the first half as Macc continued to lose every second ball; to say the sorrowful Silkmen were a yard off the pace would be fair, albeit the youngsters will be bound to blow hot and cold. Aristote Nsiala made up for his earlier error with a fantastic telescopic last ditch challenge on pacey wide boy Vilhete. Nat Brown, playing this season with the consistency of a crème Brule, also blocked a cert from Mark Marshall as the Bees continued to waste their supremacy.
So for a half time team talk then Simmo……………….
Though the travelling fans would have been questioning the crazy gang`s credentials in the first half the second would belong to their heroes. To be honest the Silkmen did everything but score as lady luck fluttered her eyes at the bees. Tyrone sent the keeper the wrong way yet it clipped his foot, Hamza was denied by an unbelievable save from Cole in goal. A defender also got away with a ball to hand that any home side would get week in week out.
With a young side and such a small budget it says something that Macclesfield are going into games expecting to win and then going away disappointed if they do not get the three points. Quite what put them off first half ( perhaps a strange overnight stay due to a long journey) god only knows, yet you feel the second half showed there was more than enough to pull things back and go on to win the game.
Given we had so many out it says something for the aspirations of team Macc, with both the management and the players disappointed but desperate to put things right. How nice to have belief each and every time Saturday comes.
